Summer Double Bill 2011
Tuesday 9 August - Thursday 11 August 2011...
This Summer YAT will be staging two plays over nine performances at two different venues.
First up is a double bill of The Duchess of Malfi and Lost & Found which will be presented over three performances at the Hampton Hill Playhouse between Tuesday 9 and Thursday 11 August.
After this, The Duchess of Malfi on it's own will be presented for six performances from Monday 15 to Saturday 20 August at TheSpace2 theatre in North Bridge (Royal Mile) as part of the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
ABOUT THE PLAYS
The Duchess of Malfi
by John Webster
directed by Lizzie Lattimore and Sarah Dowd.
A Jacobean drama that starts as a love story with a Duchess who marries beneath her class, and ends up in a nightmarish tragedy as her two brothers exact their revenge. Decadence and Decay is the theme behind YAT's exciting new production. This group of talented young people will transfer the renaissance world of the Duchess of Malfi to the roaring Twenties where corruption and deceit are rife and the Duchess' downfall awaits her.
Lost & Found
by Asha Gill
directed by Asha Gill
In a dusty forgotten junk shop a young girl wanders around looking for her Lula. With the help of the shops pet bird Rutherford, they shift through the clutter together, trying desperately to find the mystery object which means so much to her, unaware of the history that lies behind each object that they find. This imaginative, humorous and often touching piece of devised work is written and directed by Asha Gill, with the help of her brilliant cast.
