    Summer 2016 :: The Trial of Hansel & Gretel :: Reading/Auditions

    YAT will next meet at Collis School, Teddington from 7.30pm on Monday 25 April 2016 where we will be holding a discussion and reading for our next production. This will be followed by Auditions for our first Summer production, The Trial of Hansel & Gretel.

    THE TRIAL OF HANSEL & GRETEL
    Written by David Wheatley
    Directed by Emily Moss

    READING
    Monday 25 April from 7.30pm - 10pm
    Collis School, Teddington

    THE TRIAL OF HANSEL & GRETEL takes place in a magical woodland courtroom as the two troublesome children stand accused of laziness, mischief and property damage. A Prosecution and Defence team made up of some familiar fairytale characters will argue their cases to the audience of jurors as various sprites, pixies and woodland spirits re-enact the disputed events. Are they the innocent, abandoned babes in the wood as we've always believed? Or two lazy, insolent brats who don't mind their parents and think its acceptable to eat an old lady's house? The Trial of Hansel and Gretel is an original take on a traditional yarn with plenty of colourful characters, hilarious moments and lively action to entertain the whole family.

    To coincide with the second round of auditions, past-YAT member Lynn Howes will also be holding a special workshop in an adjacent room at Collis School. Lynn will spend an hour or so going through a series of basic theatre games and explaining the reasons why they are important, how they work and what they can be used for. We can promise that it will be very interesting and it will also be fun. Lynn will also video sections of the workshop, with your permission, so she can use them to help support "Glad's House", a street child shelter in Mombasa in Kenya that Lynn is working with to help get children off the streets and rubbish dumps whilst delivering first aid, providing games and sport and also meals and a safe place to wash. They also support young people through school and into employment. Please feel free to come along and support this very worthy project, even if you are not able to take part in this production.
